Yamaha Partner With AORC For The 17th Consecutive Year
For the 17th consecutive year, Yamaha Motor Australia are the Naming Rights partner of the Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC).
Yamaha Motor Australia has backed the AORC since its inception and this support has been critical to the expansion of the championship in recent years. Motorcycling Australia is excited to again have them as the Naming Rights partner in 2022.
The partnership of the 2022 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship, presented by MX Store, will again feature a massive 14 classes of competition, with six junior classes, the 2 Stroke Cup, and the continuation of all premiere senior classes.
The Championship will see 12 rounds of spectacular enduro action across four states, firing into action at Cherrabah, QLD, on March 19-20 for rounds 1 and 2, with the Grand Finale at Wynyard, TAS on October 8-9.
AORC has a long and prestigious history of producing world-class riders currently including Dakar Rally Champion Toby Price, as well 6 X and 2 X AORC Champions Daniel Milner and Wil Ruprecht competing in EnduroGP respectively.
Multi-time world and Australian off-road champion, Jess Gardiner, has extended her relationship with Yamaha for another season in EW with a newly signed deal that will have her more aligned with the bLU cRU than ever before. Likewise, household names like Joshua Green (Shop Yamaha Offroad racing Team) and Michael Driscoll (Shop Yamaha Offroad racing Team) will again stake their claim for E2 glory.
Motorcycling Australia CEO, Peter Doyle, said Yamaha Motor Australia’s commitment to the 2022 AORC would ensure the Championship continues to grow.
“Motorcycling Australia is ecstatic to again have the support of Yamaha Motor Australia as the Naming Rights partner for the 2022 Australian Off-Road Championship, presented by MX Store,” Mr Doyle said.
“With the support of Yamaha Motor Australia, we will continue to produce sensational racing at each round and help nurture the next generation of World-Class riders and potential future ISDE and Dakar stars.”
“Australia’s love affair with riding in the bush has been the catalyst for development for bikes like the WR250F and the WR450F and events like the AORC help us refine and provide feedback on these crucial models.
Yamaha Motor Australia National Sales & Marketing Manager – MC/ATV/ROV, Matthew Ferry, said: “2022 marks the 17th year in succession as Yamaha Motor Australia being the major sponsors of the Australian Off-Road Championship and it is a tradition that we are proud to maintain.”
“Over the years we have seen the series grow and become a focal point for world off road where many Australian riders have used the AORC as a platform to launch international careers and we would love to see that continue. Investing in the AORC gives Australian riders the opportunity to hone their skills and gain valuable experience that has proven to hold them in good stead at an international level.
“The 2022 series promises to be another memorable championship with the full 12 rounds planned across four states. We look forward to working with the riders, team and Motorcycling Australia for another year and wish all competitors the best of luck for the 2022 season.””
Yamaha Australia will again have a massive presence in AORC with a host of riders and teams flying the bLU cRU flag in the 2022 season.
The ShopYamaha Team will have a busy weekend as it’s now a four-rider unit under the guidance of former champ, AJ Roberts. Josh Green and Michael Driscoll will spearhead the team in the 450cc division, while the E1 (250cc), Kyron Bacon and Blake Hollis will fly the ShopYamaha flag.
