Rounds 3 & 4 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship – What you need to know

Tomorrow will showcase the first instalment of the 2017 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC). Before the riders take to the track, here’s everything you need to know about Rounds 3 & 4 being held near Rawson VIC. The breakdown includes information about the weekend’s venue, points of interest to look out for and how to keep up to date with everything Yamaha AORC.

This weekend’s racing will take place at Thompson Valley Road near the town of Rawson in Victoria. Competitors will be riding through the picturesque alpine and woodland areas, near Baw Baw National Park. Rawson is a nearby country town, which has a population of 325. The local area is typically popular for bushwalkers, 4WDing, mountain biking and trial bike riding. Now Rawson has come alive with the 2017 Yamaha AORC paddock coming to town, with local residents and faraway travellers sure to be in attendance.

Lucky students at Rawson Primary School today, were paid a visit by Yamaha AORC riders. Superstars Daniel Milner, Lyndon Snodgrass and Nick Graham of the KTM Enduro Team gave the local students some handy racing tips and an up close look at one of their bikes. The smiles on the kid’s faces were evident and it’s great to see riders giving back to the community that has welcomed them with open arms.

Rounds 3 & 4 of the AORC will have a huge amount of riders competing in this weekend’s racing. Over 300 competitors will take to the track, showing the healthy competition the Yamaha AORC is generating. The tightly contested E3, E2, E1, EJ, Vets, Womens, Masters and Juniors classes will all be present and raring to go.

These rounds will also play host to the first round of the Victorian State Championships, proving an exciting start to local racing. The action is sure to be thrilling with a cross-country format-taking place on Satuday, with sprint races on Sunday.

Weather has so far been mixed on Friday, with rain making the track slippery and muddy. With forecasts looking more promising for the weekend, the track situation is likely to improve, albeit with some further rain forecast.
